Watershed
Volunteers “Taking Root” in Kettle Creek
|
FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The
Kettle Creek Watershed Association (KCWA) teamed up with
a local landowner to plant 610 native trees and shrubs
along Kettle Creek on Sunday November 20, 2005. Volunteer
groups that made up the 26 volunteers were Boy scouts,
Lock Haven University Biology and Fly Fishing Club, Beech
Creek Watershed Association, Kettle Creek Watershed Association
and local landowners. To date the Watershed Association
has planted a total of 1,660 native trees along 4,730
feet of stream bank this year with an ending amount of
1,032 volunteer hours!! These plantings alongside Kettle
Creek will soon result in cooler waters, stabilized banks
and enhanced habitat for trout. It is because of dedicated
volunteers like these that YOU, YOUR children and/or grandchildren
will be able to enjoy cool clean waters and good fishing
for years to come!!
Thank
you to all volunteers, landowners and supporters who continue
to make dreams of healthy waters a reality within Kettle
Creek!
